I am a founder and on board of the Fundación Biodiversa Colombia. Currently, I am a freelance Visual Artist, and Biologist. I have experience working with different interdisciplinary research teams, in wildlife conservation, restoration of ecosystems, botany, palynology (pollen taxonomy), and paleoecology (reconstruction of past ecosystems using pollen fossil). As a visual artist, I have been experimenting with photography and film of nature and science, 3D animation, video installation, video mapping projection and live plant installations focused on native species. My interest as both artist and biologist is visualizing past, present, and future ecosystems. I believe that visualizing ecosystems from past and present we can dream future realities, where humans live in a more balanced manner on Planet Earth if we become aware of how we have transformed negatively the Earth and our responsibility as human species of recover the lost balance.

Biologist of the National University of Colombia, Bogotá. MFA in Digital Arts and New Media of the University of California Santa Cruz, USA

  • Professional experience

Researcher in pollen’s taxonomy (palinology) as a tool for paleoecology (ecosystems of the past), pollination, and botany at the Natural Sciences Institute and Biology Department of the National University of Colombia and Amsterdam University. Plant’s distribution modeling in the Bogotá plains, using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) at the Botanical Garden of Bogotá (Jose Celestino Mutis). Management and conservation plans for different regions in the Bogotá plains, with emphasis on vegetation, (floristic and plants communities) at the Human Scales Development Foundation and Environmental Secretary of Bogotá.

In the digital arts field I have experience with analog and digital photography, video, film documentary, mapping projections and design of a illustrated book of native plants in Colombia visited by bees. Posters and flyers.
