My primary research interests are focused on the evolutionary processes generating the biodiversity of fishes. I investigate evolution at multiple scales: from macroevolutionary studies on major fish lineages to microevolutionary studies of closely related species and populations. I strive to incorporate both traditional and state-of-the-art molecular, ecological, and morphological technologies into my research while addressing questions pertaining to the biodiversity in earth system dynamics – to serve both science and society.
